I’m Shalim Monteagudo Contreras, a Homo sapien

Now: Co-founded Midas, building bits and ideas.

At Duke: did cs, selected as a Z Fellow; spent time at Mercor, the MIT Media Lab, Perplexity, General Catalyst, and the World Economic Forum.

Before college: Founded Mocrium, backed by the Inter-American Development Bank and later sold it to Rotary; was a semi-professional photographer and built the largest photography coalition in Latam, with 100K+ followers; competed in varsity table tennis and track & field, placing at national and regional championships; managed money for friends and family (still passively active); inspired by Soros’ and Druckenmiller’s Black Wednesday.

As a kid, sold and taught people how to solve 2×2s, 3×3s, 4×4s, 5×5s, Pyraminxes, Mirror Cubes, and a few others, wrote questionable .bat files that found their way onto friends’ and teachers’ computers, and took a few unnecessary detours through Tor and .onion sites, thanks to DrossRotzank and the Lazarus Group.

Philosophy: into postmodernism, structural realism, ontology, Foucault, Gödel, Russell, Popper, Spinoza, Juan Maldacena, and a few others.

Languages: Fluent in Spanish, and English; Conversational in German, Portuguese, and Chinese.
